피슝 (pisyung)
Pew! / Zip!
What it means
Something shooting off fast — a laser, a beam, or a person zipping away. Basically 'pew!'
When you'll see it
In fantasy and sci-fi manhwa, it's the beam shooting from someone's hand or the arrow whizzing past an ear. It also works for people vanishing at top speed — like the coworker who's gone 피슝 the second it hits 6 p.m. And plenty of Koreans grew up making finger guns and going '피슝 피슝' at each other.
Where it shows up in manhwa
- A laser or energy blast fires
- A character zips off at top speed
- An arrow flies past
