빤히 (ppanhi)

*stare*

What it means

Looking at someone directly and steadily, without looking away. Can feel curious, suspicious, or awkward.

Where you'll see it in manhwa

• A child stares at a stranger
• Someone stares waiting for an answer
• An awkward silent stare

How to say it

Romanized as ppanhi. It's a motion effect (not sounds at all — these show how something moves) and its rarity is uncommon.

Similar sound effects

• 흠칫 heumchit — *startled pause*
